The mighty tasks of Heracles
Heracles (the Romans called him Hercules) was the strongest hero in Greek myth. To make up for a terrible mistake, he had to complete twelve almost-impossible tasks.
He fought a lion whose skin no weapon could pierce, captured a giant boar, and even cleaned the filthiest stables in the world in a single day by redirecting a river!
The myths used Heracles to ask a big question: what does it really mean to be a hero?
